What inspired you to become a dentist?

I always knew I wanted to help people, do something positive and give back to my community.

Recommend a snack that’s equally delicious as it is good for your teeth.

Gummy vitamins! Ok, that’s not really a snack. You can never go wrong with apples but I don’t recommend them for kids with braces.

What does the Kool Smiles mission mean to you?

The Kool Smiles mission is to expand access to high quality dental care among underserved communities. This mission has always played a significant role in my life, especially having been raised by parents who both grew up in underserved communities. One of the reasons I became a dentist was to give back and be a positive role model for the youth in my community.

What experiences or values do you hope to bring to the mission trip?

Throughout my life and career, I’ve met people from various backgrounds and walks of life. One thing I’ve learned is to embrace one’s differences, because you never know how much you and that person have in common.

What motivated you to participate in the mission trip?

I want the chance to contribute to something bigger than myself. I want a better understanding of my role as a healthcare provider and how that can translate abroad. Lastly, once this is done, I want to be able to share this experience with future healthcare providers and make sure they understand the importance of what we do.
