What made you decide to join Kool Smiles?
I love working with kids and I enjoy being a part of bigger companies.
Describe a memory you have of going to the dentist as a child.
I visited the dentist when I was five and needed an extraction. The dentist told me I was brave like a soldier and it made me feel very strong. I still remember it to this day.
What was an “a-ha” moment you had as a dentist?
I had a patient with brown anterior teeth. She was getting married, but was ashamed of her teeth. After I performed cosmetic surgery, she was crying because she was so happy with the results and it really helped her self-esteem.
What was your reaction when you found out you were accepted to go on this mission trip?
I was so excited and happy to be chosen for such a wonderful opportunity!
How do you plan to live out the Kool Smiles mission on your trip?
I will be bringing my A game and giving 110% to my team and patients.
How do you hope to impact the lives of your patients on your trip?
I hope to reduce and heal their pain as much as possible.
What Kinds of experiences do you hope to have on this trip? What do you hope to learn?
I hope to learn about the culture and meet new people. I would also like to get to know the other doctors on this trip and build relationships with different offices.
How do you think this trip will impact your career as a dentist going forward?
I think this trip will help me become even more involved in the problems associated with low income areas and the impact one can have helping.
What’s a final piece of advice you have for people trying to make a difference in the world of dentistry?
There are many things out there that can make people happy besides money and the work we do is very rewarding and worth much more than money.
